Country Sourdough Batard
Our "morning ritual" includes cafe con leche an toast topped with homemade applesauce, walnuts and honey (Slovenian-style). Beck's country sourdough bastard makes the best toast! Even slicing the loaf, rather than using pre-sliced is part of "the ritual". Guaranteed to usher in a happy day!
Thank you for your attention to detail with your ingredients. The bread is so delicious. I love it toasted with butter. Makes great sandwiches also.
If you want sourdough bread with a bit more heft, this should be your go-to bread. 🥖 Yummy with a dab of butter.
We love this bread. It has a great chew, perfectly sour and toasts up amazing in a dry cast iron. For a savory option... Try brushing your slices with olive oil prior to toasting (or grilling) then rubbing with a clove of garlic (after toasted), then top with a slice of tomato and flaked sea salt... it's a dream combo on its own or alongside eggplant involtini! This bread has the best smell... love everything about it! My favorite is to cut off the end piece as soon as we get home and just eat it fresh as is... its that good.
It works well toasted with jam, or broiled as garlic bread.
